Common Questions
Answers, when you're ready to ask.
Starting hospice conversations is hard. These are the questions we hear most — and we're glad to answer any others, any time.
Still have a question?
Every family's situation is different. If what you need isn't covered here, reach out — we're happy to talk it through.
Ask us directlyIs hospice care covered by insurance?
In most cases, yes — fully. Hospice is a covered benefit under Medicare Part A, Medi-Cal, and most private insurance plans. This typically includes nursing visits, medications related to the hospice diagnosis, medical equipment, supplies, and bereavement support. We verify coverage with you before care begins.
Where is hospice care provided?
Hospice care comes to you — most often at home, but also in assisted living communities, skilled nursing facilities, or residential care homes. "Home" is wherever your loved one feels most comfortable.
Does choosing hospice mean giving up?
No. Hospice means shifting the focus of care from cure to comfort — easing pain, managing symptoms, and giving families time and support. Many patients feel better after starting hospice, not worse. Some even graduate when their condition stabilizes.
How quickly can care begin?
Often the same day. Once a physician certifies hospice eligibility and your family agrees to begin services, we can typically admit a patient within 24 hours — sometimes within a few hours of your first call.
Who is on the care team?
Your interdisciplinary team includes a medical director, registered nurses, hospice aides, a medical social worker, a chaplain, and trained volunteers. Care is coordinated with your primary physician and personalized to your loved one's goals.
Can family members still provide care?
Absolutely — and we support them in doing so. We teach family caregivers what to watch for, how to provide comfort, and when to call us. Our team is always a phone call away, day or night.
Do you offer bilingual or culturally-specific care?
Yes. Our team includes bilingual clinicians — including Spanish speakers — and we honor cultural, religious, and spiritual traditions that matter to your family. We'll meet you where you are.
